Discover Davis is the destination marketing site for Davis County, Utah — “Utah’s Amusement Capital” — covering everything from Antelope Island State Park to Lagoon, the county’s hotels, dining, and signature events. My work on the site focused on two things: making it genuinely accessible to everyone, and giving its biggest events the dedicated landing pages they deserve.

Complete WCAG Accessibility Conversion & Audit

I led a full accessibility conversion of discoverdavis.com, auditing the site against the WCAG standards and then remediating the issues across the board. That meant working through the things that quietly shut people out — insufficient color contrast, missing or unhelpful alt text, broken heading structure, unlabeled form fields, focus states that disappeared during keyboard navigation, and interactive components that weren’t exposed properly to screen readers.

Rather than bolt on an overlay widget, I addressed accessibility at the template and markup level so the fixes are real and durable: semantic structure, proper ARIA where it’s needed, keyboard-operable navigation and menus, and content that holds up under assistive technology. The result is a destination site that a far wider audience can actually use — which is both the right thing to do and a real reduction in legal and reputational risk for the bureau.

Event Landing Pages

I also designed and built new landing pages for key Davis County events, including the Antelope by Moonlight Bike Ride — the after-dark, themed ride across Antelope Island. These pages are purpose-built to convert: a strong hero, sticky in-page navigation (Overview, Ride Details, Pre-Party, Sponsors & Vendors, FAQ), a clear “Register Now” path, embedded video, sponsor and vendor placement, and a “Where to Stay” module that ties the event back to Davis County’s hotels.

The aim was a flexible, on-brand pattern the team could reuse for other marquee events — turning a single date on the calendar into a full, accessible, bookable experience.
